【摘要】:Thistestmethoddescribesthegeneralrequirementsforevaluatingthelong-term,chlorinatedwater,oxidativeresistanceofpolyethylene(PE),usedincoldwatersupplyorservicesystemsbyexposuretochlorinatedwater.Thistestmethodoutlinestherequirementsofapressurizedflow-throughtestsystem,typicaltestpressures,test-fluidcharacteristics,failuretype,anddataanalysis.Note1Otherknowndisinfectingsystems(chlorinedioxide,ozone,andchloramine)arecurrentlyusedforprotectionofpotablewater;however,free-chlorineisbyfarthemostcommonsysteminusetoday.Disinfectingsystemsotherthanchlorinehavenotbeenevaluatedbythismethod.Guidelinesandrequirementsfortesttemperatures,testhoopstresses,andothertestcriteriahavebeenestablishedbypriortestingofPEpipe.OtherrelatedsystemcomponentsthattypicallyappearinaPEcoldwatersupplyorservicesystemcanbeevaluatedwiththePEpipe.WhentestingPEpipeandfittingsasasystem,itisrecommendedthattheanticipatedend-usefittingtype(s)andmaterial(s)beincludedinthetestcircuitsinceitisknownthatsomefittingtypesandmaterialscanimpactfailuretimes.Specimensusedshallberepresentativeofthepipingproduct(s)andmaterial(s)underinvestigation.Note2Theproceduresdescribedinthistestmethod(withsomemodificationsoftesttemperaturesorstresses,orboth)havebeenusedtoevaluatepipesmanufacturedfrompolybutylene(PB),crosslinkedpolyethylene(PEX),polypropylene(PP),multilayer(polymer-metalcomposite),copper,andstainlesssteel.ThistestmethodisapplicabletoPEpipeandsystemsusedfortransportofpotablewatercontainingfree-chlorinefordisinfectingpurposes.Theoxidizingpotentialofthetest-fluidspecifiedinthistestmethodexceedsthattypicallyfoundinpotablewatersystemsacrosstheUnitedStates.Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.Thefollowingprecautionarycaveatpertainsonlytothetestmethodportion,Section,ofthisspecification.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
