【摘要】:Thequalityofthestripeisdeterminedbythecoefficientofretroreflectedluminance,RL,anddependsonthematerialsused,age,andwearpattern.Theseconditionsshallbeobservedandnotedbytheuser.Underthesameconditionsofilluminationandviewing,largervaluesofRLcorrespondtohigherlevelsofvisualperformance.Retroreflectivityofpavement(road)markingsdegradewithtrafficwearandrequireperiodicmeasurementtoensurethatsufficientlinevisibilityisprovidedtodrivers.Foragivenviewingdistance,measurementsofRLmadewitharetroreflectometerhavingageometrycorrespondingtothatviewingdistanceareagoodindicatorofthevisualrankingofmaterialmeasured.AsspecifiedbyCEN,themeasurementgeometryoftheinstrumentisbasedonaviewingdistanceof30m,aheadlightmountingheightof0.65mdirectlyoverthestripe,andaneyeheightof1.2mdirectlyoverthestripe.Itshallbetheresponsibilityoftheusertoemployaninstrumenthavingthespecifiedobservationandentranceangles.1.1Thistestmethodcoversmeasurementoftheretroreflectivepropertiesofhorizontalpavementmarkingmaterialscontainingretroreflectingbeads,suchastrafficstripesandsurfacesymbols,usingaportableretroreflectometerthatcanbeplacedontheroaddelineationtomeasuretheretroreflectionataprescribedgeometry.Note1Therestrictiontobeadbasedmaterialsisforthepurposeofensuringasufficientlygradualopticalresponsefunction(frompointsofthesourceaperturetopointsofthereceiveraperture)toallowgeneroussizedinstrumentsourceandreceiverapertures.1.2Theentranceandobservationanglesoftheretroreflectometeraffectthereadings.AsspecifiedbytheEuropeanCommitteeforStandardization(CEN),theentranceandobservationanglesshallbe88.76and1.05,respectively.1.3Thistestmethodisintendedtobeusedforfieldmeasurementofpavementmarkingsbutmaybeusedtomeasuretheperformanceofmaterialsonsamplepanelsbeforeplacingthemarkingmaterialinthefield.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
