【摘要】:Thispracticecoversthemathematicalcalculationofthesupersaturationofthreeprincipalsulfatescalingcompoundsfoundinindustrialoperations.Applicationofthisstandardpracticetothepredictionofscaleformationinagivensystem,however,requiresexperience.Thecalculationstelltheuserifawater,ormixtureofwaters,isinascalingmode.Whetherornotscalewillinfactform,howquicklyitwillform,whereitwillform,inwhatquantities,andwhatcompositionaresubjecttofactorsbeyondthescopeofthispractice.However,basedonhowsupersaturatedagivenwaterormixtureofwatersis,anobjectiveevaluationoftherelativelikelihoodofscaleformationcanbemade.Note18212;Thereareseveralpersonalcomputer(PC)typeprogramsthatarebothavailablecommerciallyandpubliclythatwillperformthesecalculations.1.1Thispracticecoversthecalculationofsupersaturationofbariumsulfate,strontiumsulfate,andcalciumsulfatedihydrate(gypsum)inbrackishwater,seawater,andbrinesinwhichbarium,strontium,andcalciumionseithercoexistorexistindividuallyinsolutioninthepresenceofsulfateions.1.2Thispracticeisnotapplicableforcalculatingcalciumsulfatedihydratesupersaturationifthetemperaturesofsalinewatersunderinvestigationexceed95176;C.Attemperaturesabove95176;C,hemianhydrateandanhydritewouldbemajorinsolubleforms.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
